Session Description
Terrorists and financial criminals are often organized by, adhere to, or claim to commit nefarious acts on behalf of, politics, religion, and economic disparity. The mechanism by which crimes are committed varies, but the primary source of the stealth and mobility required to wage such complex, global criminal acts is money. This briefing will focus on how these dynamics have been the underlying factors that have shaped almost all of the world's conflicts and alliances. Examples will be provided as to how these dynamics can be found in "operational intersects" within the movements of money; and how these dynamics influence the methods used, and the relationships between, money launderers, drug traffickers, and terrorists. .
Attendees will gain a better understanding of the geopolitical dynamics that provide a platform for illegal activity; as well as learn actual "operational intersects" used by criminals to maneuver and hide illicit funds within the financial community and on the streets of our communities.
