Culture Shock: Why Treasury’s Vendor Onboarding Blind Spot is a Fraud Risk You Can’t Ignore
|
|
Treasurers and finance leaders often focus on optimizing cash flow, forecasting, and managing payments, yet many overlook a critical cultural blind spot—vendor onboarding and management. This session will expose how treasury’s disengagement from this process creates organizational risk, fosters inefficiencies, and weakens financial controls.
Attendees will explore how an organization’s culture around vendor management can either mitigate or accelerate fraud risks, impact payment strategies, and influence financial resilience. We’ll discuss real-world fraud cases, the hidden costs of poor onboarding practices, and actionable steps to drive cultural change within treasury and finance teams.
Brian Anderson is a senior financial executive with 30+ years leading innovation in payments, treasury, and digital product strategy. At PaymentWorks, he manages strategic bank partnerships, aligning sales, product, and marketing to accelerate partner-driven growth.
Previously, Brian spent nearly two decades at J.P. Morgan Chase, rising to Managing Director and Head of Commercial Banking Payments & Digital Product Solutions. He led high-impact teams to drive double-digit product sales growth, modernize digital infrastructure, and champion fraud prevention initiatives. He also served in executive roles overseeing business management, analytics, and treasury sales.
Brian began his career at Voya Financial and Liberty Bank, earning accolades including the Alexander Hamilton Award. He holds an MBA in Finance from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and has held Series 7 & 63 and CTP certifications.
He serves on the board of GRACE (Global Relief for Crises and Emergencies) and previously contributed to community initiatives including the J.P. Morgan Service Corps (2014).
